FUNDRAISING SUPPORT - Working on both local small scale and global projects I have a wealth of experience supporting funding rounds – whether that’s a grant, debt financing, angel (including EIS and SEIS rounds) and PE funding, or venture capital. In addition to working with you I can work with external stakeholders, such as investors, bankers, asset managers, lawyers, auditors, suppliers and customers or off-takers on your behalf. While jointly your stakeholders have a vested interest in the success of your business, they also have their own priorities and requirements, which need to be understood, managed and met.
REVIEW PROCESSES, SYSTEMS AND REPORTING CONTROLS - As every company is different the systems and processes are too, by advising on controlled reporting and control environments to ensure best-practice Financial policies and procedures, over time automation has become key in streamlining businesses and reducing operator error. In addition newer software can maximise security (reducing the risks of a cyber attack and a GDPR breach). I have worked closely with developers to understand these opportunities and where there were gaps in recording and reporting packages created systems for the emerging technologies presented.
INFORMATION MANAGEMENT - Timely, accurate and relevant reporting helps to drive the accountability of staff, increase the visibility of performance, and support informed management decision making. Good quality management information is a fundamental part of our service and is periodically checked through regular auditing schedules.
PREPARATION FOR EXIT - If you are selling your business or your current CFO is moving on, exit planning is paramount so to is starting your preparations early. I can provide support and advice to help get your business through this time and get it into the best possible shape; making the company more appealing to buyers and significantly improving your valuation, as well as continuity throughout the transition.
COVER DURING LEAVE - Absence management is never easy, whether planned or unexpected. Employees taking weeks or months of leave can disrupt a business and its financial profitability. I can support the finance team during this time and support during a phased return to work or with a job share.
FD COACHING - Similar to the exit planning, succession planning for a new CFO is crucial, a senior finance team member maybe stepping up. There are times when a Finance Director can benefit from a mentor or experienced sounding board; particularly if they are newly appointed to a business or recently promoted. With several years of experience coaching and mentoring finance teams I can provide just that, to help with FD onboarding, or supporting during a particularly challenging financial project, or developing an existing skill set so they can excel.
